Life’s Not A Carousel

Let’s take a look when people die
At those they leave behind
At those who walk with Christ on high
At those who yet are blind

When faith within has seen life’s dawn
When love’s the song we sing
When in the heart true Light is born
The devil’s filth takes wing

When tears of joy begin to flow
Caress Salvation’s feet
Our sinful life is dealt a blow
And darkness beats retreat

Take up in hand The Master’s sword
Regard His word within
Take up your shield in Christ The Lord
Fight true until you win

This life is not a carousel
Where thrills with speed increase
How oft it seems when all is well
Our ride comes quick to cease

The devil’s tunes are all the same
Revolving night and day
We must be rid of filth and shame
Rise up and walk away

We can’t continue round and round
When life goes up and down
Plant firm your feet on solid ground
For life’s eternal crown

When patients is The Lord’s command
When wait, is God’s decree
Though yet we fail to understand
One day the truth we’ll see.
