Life’s Reminiscences Poem by Dr John Celes

Life’s Reminiscences

I’ve tried my best to stay honest
At home and work, in life;
My righteousness earns me more foes,
Inviting extra strife.

My days have gone off in this way:
There is no turning back;
Thus years have rolled without regret
Of not learning life’s knack.

But I can’t change my nature now:
That’s how I love to be;
May be, I did not see life’s peak,
While climbing its big tree.

Sometimes, I wish I could have been
Like others and stress-free;
But I couldn’t change the path I chose
While walking uprightly.

And when reviewing my life past,
I’m glad for being so;
God was with me in my trials,
And helps me even more.

Why should I fret and fume in life
For living righteously?
I’ve lived my life better than most,
And kept my piety.

This earthly life is not the end
For human beings all;
We’ve got to keep our heart prepared
For after-life – God’s call.
