Life Support Poem by Caroline Bulleck

Life Support

Eyes dull and lifeless
Machines forcing your breath
Heart beating without purpose
I screamed and cried, seeing this death
Your hands shaking, uncontrollable
Your brain, dead - you were gone
I held you, inconsolable
Don't know how long, time just went on
I didn't want to let you go
But we had to. I held your hand and we
Unplugged you. I watched you die so slow
It still haunts and hurts me, eternally
