Lifemate Poem by Andreas Caterina

Lifemate

I need a soul mate
but I feel that even that wouldn't be enough.
I need a lifemate.

For, if not you,
who will listen to me
talking of what I feel

when a bee flies
when a rock is thrown
when a plane takes off?

Who else will ever know
what my personal takes are

on thick books with purple covers
or on flies smashed on the windshield?

There exists someone who
would gladly listen, hours on end
without thinking me strange?

Or am I doomed
to spend days
talking alone?
