Light & Darkness Poem by Joshua Ruiz Melendez

Light & Darkness

Rating: 4.0

'Light will shine the way,
and darkness will look more gloom',
but that will be the day
we meet our impendent doom.

They say light shines hope,
and darkness gives us damnation.
But feast your eyes on the Pope
and his beloved living foundation.

'Those who do not know history
are doomed to live it again'.
This is no mystery,
just study your terrain.

There are lies in our behaviors,
and secrets in the emblem.
Learning treachary among our saviors,
and hope within the condemned.

Darkness isn't evil
and light isn't good.
Both makes us feeble,
reluctant to the truth.

Bad is black,
good is white,
what they lack
is sense of might.

Light, bright forever.
Darkness, lost in time.
But if put together,
hope will always shine.

It is time to choose your path,
no matter if your good or in madness,
and thou shall do the math,
living through light and darkness.

Your poems seem to reflect a worry about the struggle of good versus evil; can I quote to you - 'There's so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, It ill becomes any of us to criticise the rest of us'. Of the three poems, I like 'Light and Darkness' best, especially 'Those who do not know history are doomed to live it again'. How true.
