Light Streams Poem by Ruth Fogelman

Light Streams

While light streams down from the mountain peak
washing the valley bright green,
and a bird with luminescent wings
circles above sheep that graze below,
their shepherd sits, legs crossed,
at the foot of a fig tree,
a silver flute at his mouth,
yet his melody does not reach me
as he basks in the river of light.
