Lightning Bugs Poem by Bria Floyd

Lightning Bugs

Rating: 4.8

Fireflies rise up into the moon.
Lighting up the sky,
taking over the darkness,
as high as the pines.
Illuminating everything in their path.
Stealing people's breath,
taking them aback.
Beauty comes into mind.
When you catch a glimpse of the bright yellow lights,
and then they're gone in a split second,
the dead of the night.
It's hard not to blink another time.
They take your deepest secrets,
your special things,
pack them tightly away in their wings.
Get them ready for flight,
to take off and sore high up to the stars in the sky.
They take whatever they can get their hands on,
they are thieves of the night.
