Lightning Catches The Bottle Poem by Jeff Wrubel

Lightning Catches The Bottle

To write can be most inconvenient
the moment
when the world keeps pace
but your time becomes lenient
Strikes
the moment strikes
no matter if you're washing your face
the moment strikes
but it may vanish without a trace
So buy the ticket and take the ride
The time may feel halted
But you're riding the express
the expression of inspiration
the moment strikes
Not knowing the destination
full speed and creative wind, exalted
Until we pull into the station…
On the platform now and the passerby stare
I'm left disheveled, and looking funny
for when the moment strikes
it interrupts my need to pretend I care
about buying wine and winning bread
or finding my bearings in the fluorescent glare
of our daily world of worker bees and honey
Because the one truth that I'll share
is the best things that we'll ever do
they won't be done for money
