Like A Mirror Poem by Duncan Standard

Like A Mirror

I am never who you want to talk to,
Am I?
Do you see my name,
When looking for his?
Are you...
Disappointed?
I am not the guy who,
Ignores,
Ghosts,
Lies,
Cheats,
Sends,
ONE,
WORD,
RESPONSES.
I am the one who,
Annoys,
Texts,
Loves,
Trusts,
Hopes,
Says,
GOOD,
MORNING,
EVERY,
SINGLE,
DAY.
I am the friend,
Never more,
Often even less.
Used until my skills are no longer needed.
Here until he tells you he doesn't like me.
Trying not to let on,
To not let everyone see,
How my heart breaks every single time,
I see you kiss him.
The way you look at him,
When he's looking at everything but you.
Hearing how passionate he is with you,
When he comes to take you on another,
Public,
Car,
Ride,
No,
Food,
No,
Anything,
Except to...
And leave.
Ha,
Date.
Oh how he loves you.
Probably so much more than his girlfriend.
So much he plans to move closer to you.
When he can't even be bothered to stop and say hi as he drives through the area.
You ask me why you're so stupid,
I ask you,
Why am I?
