Like A Teardrop Poem by Dick Holmes

Like A Teardrop

When this otherwise
normal guy
gets too excited, he
suddenly bulks up into
The Incredible Hulk
and does incredibly
regrettable things.
He's a character
in a movie, but it's
not only a movie.

At the other end
of the spectrum,
flickering in and out
of visibility, is one
who, calming down,
way down, shrinks into
The Credible Speck
and does credibly
serene things, like
float in a beam of light
passing through a window
on an otherwise
dark, heavy day.
The Speck's
most peaceful, happiest,
still living memory
is of the moment she
drifted near
the Ancient One and
settled at His feet.
In that eternal moment,
all the grief of her long,
seemingly aimless
journey lifts
like a teardrop
evaporating with the
morning dew.
