Like Every Other Night Poem by Subhashis Pattadar

Like Every Other Night

It was just another night.
city lights were on,
warming the winter chill.
Don't know why we had a fight,
I was standing at the window,
Wondering how would you feel.

It was a busy night.
I stood looking beneath,
People moving away fast,
Away from my wet blurry sight.
Memories like butterflies,
kept fluttering in gray dust.

I kept gazing at the fireplace,
Smoke and fire rising in hazy curls,
To form many old known shapes,
I could make out only your face.
Fire kept changing to turbulent sea,
And, I was soon covered by waves.

I was sailing in a sinking ship,
Sailing further away from you.
Stormy sea roaring in pleasure,
A feeling that runs fathoms deep.
And I kept fighting with water,
In a hope to find unknown treasure.

I was lying in deserted sands,
Sand left untouched for ages,
No life no shades around,
Neither you to hold my hand.
All alone I woke up in my room,
Again in the busy city sound.
