Lip Service Poem by Sai Killam

Lip Service

It’s the nearness of you,
That brings me to my knees.
The way that you smile,
And do as you please.
Take my heart in your hand,
And squish it ‘til it bleeds...

These kiss-less lips long for touch,
Loveless heart yearns for warmth.
She cyanide kisses with faithless lips,
Such beautiful lying lips,
That whisper everything I want to hear.

Erase my past and paint me a beautiful future.
Feed me lies that keep me hanging on.
She says, “My heart’s always been broken,
Love’s just a fantasy.”
And if that’s true, it’s no wonder I dream of her so often.

These kiss-less lips long for touch,
Loveless heart yearns for warmth.
She cyanide kisses with faithless lips,
Such beautiful lying lips,
That whisper everything I want to hear.

Oh your love is a disease,
And I am thoroughly poisoned.
She says, “Once bitten, twice shy,
I’ll protect my heart,
Next time I give it a try.”

Take my heart in your hand,
Squish it ‘til it bleeds.

Cyanide kiss,
Poisons me deep.
Feelings I reap,
Absolute bliss...

Take my heart in your hand,
Squish it ‘til it bleeds.

She says, “‘I love you’ is the kiss of death,
In my relationships.”
And I’m in two minds, lost;
Don’t know what to do,
Can’t tell her I love her, can’t pay the cost.

These kiss-less lips long for touch,
Loveless heart yearns for warmth.
She cyanide kisses with faithless lips,
Such beautiful lying lips,
That whisper everything I want to hear.

What do I do? What do I say?
I love her, oh it’s true,
But if I tell her that—I lose.

Come on darling,
Shed some love my way,
Come on darling,
Make me stay.

My heart can’t take this abuse,
Bruise after bruise,
If I don’t tell her,
I’ll go out of my mind.
“Love’s not a fantasy,
I love you.”

These kiss-less lips long for touch,
Loveless heart yearns for warmth.
She cyanide kisses with faithless lips,
Such beautiful lying lips,
That whisper everything I want to hear.

Come on darling,
Give me a break,
Come on darling,
Love is fake.

“But it’s true,
I love you.”

And she knows she loves me,
She really does.
And I wear my heart on my sleeve,
Yet she turns away, again and again,
Claiming she doesn’t and I should just leave.

These kiss-less lips long for touch,
Loveless heart yearns for warmth.
No more cyanide kisses from faithless lips,
No more beautiful lying lips,
That whisper everything I want to hear.

One after another, she’s quite the dater,
And oh it hurts,
Seeing her in the arms of another...

(Once bitten, twice shy,
I’ll protect my heart,
Next time I give it a try...)
