Little Gurl - Poem by Joy Davis

heres a story about a little gurl
shes seeks happiness
but the memories haunt her
her soul is broken and tattered
she searches for love
only sadness overtakes her heart
she is told to be thankful

but for what?
a bruised relationship with her mother?
ruined friendships?
broken trusts and promises?
being trashed by shallow boys?
for expressing herself?
.. in beautiful words of poetry and song?

I dont think so..

she writes and words come forth
beautiful and desolate
with no price to pay
she writes from her heart
her soul
her mind
her everything

so leave her alone
stop hounding her
she is crestfallen and alone
leave her to mourn
stop telling her to be happy
easier said than done
try being happy
when there is nothing to be happy about

here is a little gurl
sad, alone, and unhappy
broken and torn apart
by who?
everyone around her
her mother
her friends
those guys
who do what they want
and get what they want

screw the world
screw my mother
screw them
screw me
and screw you
