Little Sunbirds Poem by Okunola Peace

Little Sunbirds

Beneath the dancing lilies, sing o' sing,
Sing aloud and let the world hear
The rhythm of beauty and joy unseen
That we may dance and cast away our fears.

You are the steel that does not shatter;
The rock that evil breaks upon like waves;
Be my angel that i may not falter;
A pleasant embrace that dry my tears.

Let me stay in your embrace forever
Amidst the soul of your voice sweet
That rends the stillnness of my heart asunder
And place joy within my grasp Aye! Upon my lips.

O' do this for me, little daughter
With the gentleness of a valiant mother
And the fierceness of a noble father
That i may stay in your embrace forever.
