Living By Numbers Poem by David DeAngelo

Living By Numbers

Rating: 2.9

All the things you thought you were
And all the things you want to be
They all crumble down at your feet
They are laying right in front of me

You can’t believe it’s all over
You can’t believe you’re not yourself
You look into a mirror and see
You’re just an empty jar on the shelf

And who are you?
You’re not yourself
And you’re bent on
Being somebody else instead
Yeah you, you’re living by numbers

You sit down on your couch to find
Forgotten and lost is what you’ve become
But you know it’s only to yourself
Imposing as someone but you’re numb

And why don’t you try to begin again?
You still have time to make it right again

And who are you?
You’re not yourself
And you’re bent on
Being somebody else instead
Yeah you, you’re living by numbers

Who have you become?
It can’t be you standing there
And you’ve stuck on
Being somebody else instead
Yeah your life’s drifted to slumber

Yeah you, you’re living by numbers
