Lock Up Poem by Luke Easter

Lock Up

Rating: 5.0

With good reason arrested I have been,
An innocent inmate from passionate sin,
The charges have been filed by the D.A.,
No legalistic compassion thrown my way.

Incarcerated within four walls and without bail,
Guard! My heart does not deserve to be in jail,
Where’s my attorney, my constitutional rights?
A living desire to break free to death I will fight.

Wow! Tremendously dark, cold, lonely in here
My life is still my life I will not gave way to fear,
An infinite light I see from afar if only in my mind,
Such a heavenly glow so mysterious and sublime

Never shall I leave my delightful chamber of love,
But a deception crept in unannounced because,
Years consumed my heat taking the flames higher,
Setting off sparks I let you willing turn into wildfire.

A resonant pounding sound became louder, faster
All times of the days and nights entreating disaster,
Wrapped itself securely through innermost intimacy,
Wind between the chimes now a storm of indecency.

Oh my dearest I can hear your love when you breathe,
And listen to your heart as gale winds topple palm trees,
The tears mingled with your sweat ruining my mascara,
In this dark secluded place filled with an unknown terror.

Sentencing myself to death row I refused to be deceived,
Crime premeditated yet involuntarily committed I believed,
And yet too late whereas this love was a crime of affliction,
Therefore, I became the master of my own fate, “Conviction! ”

Never to be apart, always together we declared our own fate,
Then you misunderstood, thinking again for you I would wait,
I beg for no mercy because I poured and drank from the cup,
Judge me, sentence me, keep me in the nectar of, “Lock Up.”
