Lofty Is Good Poem by Evelyn D. Pometto

Lofty Is Good

Once, we placed gods on mountain tops
Where, out of reach, they played their games
And hardly noticed us at all.
We should have left them there. But, no, we went and prayed them down
And made them walk and sit and talk
Right here, amongst us all;
Preferably in gardens. Yet, what seemed fearful high above
We saw were their discrepancies
And thought gods human after all,
So we gave angels wings.
