Here in Lake Havasu, it seemed strange,
The two of us strolling over London Bridge;
That Mary Poppins skyline long erased.
In London,1964, aged five
And holding hands, you crossed it with your mum;
The murky Thames seen rolling underneath.
We cross it now, but over different water;
The graceful, peaceful, fluid, Colorado.
Arizona dries up; eroded rock
And loamy sand; bristling bursage, cat claws
And mesquite.Back then who would have thought:
One man, one bridge, two continents that time has spanned.
We cross it now, but over different water; I thoroughly enjoyed reading it...A huge 10! You would also read my My Bench. thanks Cheryl

Wow...I had no idea that the original London Bridge is now in AZ. What a contrast. The speaker in this poem is a mystery to me. A ghost? A family member. Love your poems...
