Lonely Boy... Poem by Nestor David Armas

Lonely Boy...

I was a lonely boy
Only one on the merry go round
With only just one broken used toy
Never claimed from the lost and found
Played in the dirt
To hide the hurt
Hiding within
Couldn't muster a grin
I looked out at the people
As if from up high in a steeple
Reached out for a hand
But I might as well
Have been in another land
No one would care if I fell
A pat on the back
Teachers note with a thumb tack
Couldn't cry in the light
Waited until the dark of night
Punched the pillows until they busted
Not even an enemy could I have trusted
To spill my hearts guts
To mend my bruises and cuts
I'm a lonely man
Can't ride the carousel no more
Don't play with Legos even if I can
I'm lost and haven't found the door
Out of my childhood's past
I'm still in that steeple an outcast...
