Lord, Help Me! Poem by Wakefield Mahon

Lord, Help Me!

What do I do when he isn't around?
Where do I turn when I'm feeling down?
How do I make it through each dreary day
When I'm falling down on my knees and pray,
'Lord, help me! '

It's not easy to stay at home
Your husband is gone and you feel alone
You can't wait until he gets home
Sometimes, he gets there and slams the door
Gives so little love when you're begging for more
Making you feel alone

Child is screaming and I'm in pain
Feeling each day like I'm living in vain
I don't want to be alone
Screaming out a prayer at the top of my voice
Don't want to keep living, but I've got no choice
Don't let me be alone

They say that I shouldn't feel this way,
'Lift it to God and He'll take it away.'
But when you're hurting, it's hard to feel
The soothing breath and hands that heal

'Still your heart, ' says the Lord,
'Rest in Me, that's what I'm here for.
The pain will pass and he'll come back.
Find in Me the strength you lack'.

And He helps me
The Lord helps me
