Lord Jesus, My Friend Divine Poem by Dr John Celes

I have a friend in Jesus Lord;
He always is quite near;
He is the one, who keeps His Word,
Allaying every fear.

He is my most trustworthy friend,
On earth and forever;
His friendship thick will never end,
And can never sever.

He is the one, who helps on time,
Expecting nothing back;
He makes my life always sublime,
By strange, divine, a knack.

Oh, what a loving person, God!
He cares for me always;
He is my Master and my Lord,
With anguished smiling face!
