Lost Poem by Tori Bachue

Lost

My life as it is
My past as it was
Forgetting you?
Yes
Every day, a daily fight
But forgetting you
Equals shutting out
All of them, everyone
My emotions, flushed
Like you’ve done with my heart
My heart?
I’ll have to rip it out
And hide the emptiness
The only way to forget
A high, unbreakable wall
Even from me
I’ll shut myself out, too
And hide in the other emptiness
Which one is more frightening?
An empty smile or
A telling tear?
I can’t be sad
Never, ever sad
Living up to expectations
Oh, I will
My dark side
My heart
Lost forever
Because you won’t see
No blame
How could you
Understand?
Goodbye, my enemy
Farewell, my friend
