Lost Poem by Avinash Menon

Lost

Here I lie among the trees
All I hear are the sound of bees.
My eyes open, my head so heavy
I feel so lost and I feel so empty

I look ahead and I look behind
I look around but none I find.
I walk towards the tall long tree
The one beneath I laid soul free

How I lay there I know not now
Unsure if I want to know how
I gazed down long and I gazed down hard
Such confusion and such disregard

I stared down as I could not bear
All my thought were in despair
I look above to see the sky
Not one bird to see fly by

I strode around into the unknown
I showed myself as I had to be known
I look beneath upon where I stood
Amazed at what I see beside the wood

I see the smudge upon the soil
There could be others, I thought for a while
I walked in haste but walked with care
Not knowing how this would fare

With all my will and all my might
I strode along with new delight
My thoughts fell upon this glimmer of light
My fervor keen to end this fight

I knew soon enough the coming of night
And the end would soon be within sight
Then it came, the end of light
My mind beseeched to end this flight

I walked back along the smudge again
Felt pain and in disdain
I lay down back beneath the tree
For another night my soul was free
