Lost For Words Poem by Mary Champion

Lost For Words

Staring into space - chewing on my pen,
as I seek inspiration for my rhyme.
Alas, my thoughts prefer to leave this room -
I'm hoping that, perchance, they'll come upon,
if not some deep insight - then witty pun -
elicit some incentive as they roam
to set in motion an inventive stream,
to marshal my ideas ‘til they spin
sweet verses I can read aloud and share.
Such poetry demands to be reheard
and leads its devotees to reassess
opinions that they once held to be sure.

But still the page is blank, there is no horde
of pleasing words to aid its genesis.
