Lost & Found Pt.1 - Lost Mother Poem by Joseph A. Solis

Lost & Found Pt.1 - Lost Mother

She bears down one last time.
She hears the cries of her new son.
She holds her baby for the first and last,
Then in a flash hes taken and gone.

Tears fall for her lost child;
Her baby born into affliction.
The baby who'll never know his mother,
But will forever carry her addiction.

Of all the choices she has made,
For him it was the best thing to give.
Give her baby a better life
And a greater chance to live.

Time has passed from then to now,
But she still remembers his face.
Its the only thing she can't forget.
The only thing drugs wont replace.

Still the needle pierces skin
And penetrates the vein.
The drug mixes with her blood,
And takes away her pain.

She drifts into nothingness,
And smiles, as she remembers
When she held her baby boy
All those years ago that November.

The one memory she never lost.
The only one of him she had left.
The last thing she would think of
Before drifting off to her death.
