I wrote:
Love and eternity – all of which
Epitomize a fable null and void,
Hope deployed
Into the last remaining hours of your
Noon time kiss,
And Sunday TV shows by the couch,
Where your hair fell perfectly
On my barren, scrawny chest
And there, the scent of a perfume
That I know too well like foreign tongues
Of stern foists of your heart,
And your voice that whistles
Through your protruding teeth –
I defended:
That in the square shoulders of the moon,
I sleep in the craters,
The wistfulness of the vim in your voice
That vicariously fills me not with bliss
But with emptiness,
Oh the life I chose,
And the life I may have chosen
A million years without the warring extinction
I demur the heavens, oh demure God,
Show yourself, for I am ready to vie
Not the last time, but a million times sooner or later
Before my brief repose, or immaculate demise
How I despise and love at the same time,
Is none of your concern – I epitomize an unfathomable riddle
I am girdled towards the pangs
Of yearning, the elusive fingertips of your sublime heat
The tiny, deity arches of your calloused feet
From too much prancing around, you little ballerina,
My ballerina, my erstwhile ballerina,
Where are you, in the nights where I think about
The symphony that you dance to?
Dance around me, like a wreath of tulips
All around, circumnavigating my fetid soul
And sparse hope – I am abundant with longing.
