Lost Lover Poem by Brandon Dugan

Lost Lover

Under the fading scarlet sky of dusk
O, how beautifully you stood clothed in billowing white
The wind gently whispers your name to me urging me onward
My mouth mumbles out my hearts most desired question
The stars watch so eagerly anticipating your answer
Your lips move blissfully, a sweet whisper of my name I hear
Hope arises in me, beating fast, my heart resounds off the side of the mountains
Words flow from your mouth, in awe I stand before such beauty and grace.
Shattered, I fall to my knees, picking up pieces of what remains of my heart
The silence of the air shatters
The stars fall from the heavens
And when I look up
You are gone…
