Lost Souls Poem by John Dillenger II

Lost Souls

Where are you now,
Lost in your head.
In thoughts you drown
Though towards shore
you are led.
I swim beside you
Lost also at sea.
Conclusions I've drawn
About you and me.
We are not so lost
as we would seem.
Though true is the cost
This is only a dream.
The sea is our thoughts
The shore their demise
We've both been taught
To wear a disguise,
To hide the pain
The feelings of dread
To act as though sane
With our screams in our head
But scream to me
If you must at all
Forever there I'll be
For when you fall.
