Lotus Eating Poem by Mary Champion

Lotus Eating

Oh, hurried, harried Man, rest here a while,
set foot upon these silver-sanded shores
whose air so pure and fresh, it will beguile
to fill a man with bliss while it restores
his weary heart and soul that life has worn,
made bitter with injustice and dispute.
Forget the past, ‘tis time to be reborn,
come dine upon this rare transforming fruit.
What need have ye for travel? There's no place
has more to offer than this paradise.
Allow your fears to fly - time to embrace
the pleasure-filled existence that's your prize.
Savour the sweet flavour of the lotus,
see yourself, at last, in perfect focus.
