My love,
Love asks not why
Do we ask the sun why it burns?
Do we ask the earth why it turns?
Do we ask fallen leaves why they twirl?
Love asks not why
Do we ask snowflakes why they fall?
Do we ask snails why they crawl?
Do we ask the moon why she's crescent or whole?
Love asks not why
Do we ask time why it runs
Do we ask butterflies why they have fun
Do we ask Shakespeare why he writes puns?
Love asks not why
Do we know why we're born?
Do we know when we'll be mourned?
As life, as death, as fate, love asks not why!
