Love Illusion Poem by Christopher Zombie

Love Illusion

Rating: 5.0

As I sat in the audience and waited for the show to start
i didn't know that i would soon have a dramatic part

You finally came out and everyone cheered
and you said something i greatly feared
You asked for a volunteer and looked around
Everyone screaming your name, me not making a sound
and the eye contact made it clear
and the alluring smile you gave looked sincere

So as i stepped up towards the stage
I felt others eyes following me in a jealous rage
afraid and unaware of what was to come
as soon as i was up there the show had begun

You did some simple tricks that caught my attention
then you started heading in my direction
still in doubt of what you can truly do
you asked me a question, you asked to trust you

I laughed and explained that i never trusted anyone before
and you boldly said i wouldn't feel like that anymore
You grabbed my arm and put me under a spotlight on center stage
and whispered in my ear, 'I can release your heart from it's frozen cage.'

You said your three magic words, and they didn't work
everyone booed and looked at me exclaiming, 'JERK! '
I then looked at you and could see
you were hurt, all because of me
that's when i saw you differently
so i counted to three

I said i was ready
you smiled and told me to get steady
you inhaled deeply and said your three magic words again
then the odd thing happen

I felt myself change from the inside out
and i soon lost my sense of doubt
I wasn't prepared for what happened next
this is where things became perplex

You said your infamous three words some more and the aching pain in my heart faded away
i was flabbergasted! i didn't know what to say
everyone in the audience was completely amazed
while i was blank and dazed
Now under a spell called 'love', an emotion
i feel myself in a slight distortion
My defensive wall is weaken
and my over-protective persona is beaten
and now the audience can now see
who i am, what makes me

A little kid who is caught in a rut
a bruised ego and a heart with a cut

With the audience eyes placed on my dismay
you make all the negative go away
now I'm healed from a Love's lost
but as the show went on i learned it came at a cost

You asked if i trusted you and i said yes
then the terrible thing happen i never did guess
as i stood their i felt a fast jolt in the back
and to the audience's surprise you pulled my heart out, just like that

Now you show them this newly healed heart
pulsing with potential like it did in the start
it's perfect in every shape form, and way
just how it should always stay

but the end of the show comes near
and i sense another emotion, fear

You put my heart back in it's new condition
putting it back, back in it's position
for the final time you ask if i trust you
and i quickly respond with a shocked 'i do'

Then you cover your face with a black mask
and the next thing that happen was very fast

You stabbed me in the chest with a blade so cold
i feel my heart bleeding, losing all the emotions it controlled

and with a saddening stare
i see you walking away removing the mask to glare
and you turn around to the audience and asked if the liked the show
they screamed, whistled, and cheered, but they didn't honestly know
that laying on the floor in a ruined mess
was a dying kid, with a story to confess
and as the stage grows dark and everyone leaves
there was a message that no one receives

The message was:
'Love is like a magic trick, an emotional illusion'
and that my friends is his heart's conclusion.
