Love In The Shadows Poem by New Girl Dark NewGirlDark

Love In The Shadows

I love you like night loves a fading breath,
no promises of light, no fear of death.

You are the shadow that holds me near,
a silent salvation only darkness can hear.

I found you hidden between ruined dreams,
where sorrow flowed in quiet streams.

A fragile soul with haunted eyes,
carrying storms behind your sighs.

The world was cold, the heavens blind,
leaving broken echoes in my mind.

Yet somehow your silence reached through the pain,
like midnight whispering softly through the rain.

I love you in the way dying stars still burn,
knowing there is no return.

Not with innocence, not with peace,
but with a devotion that will never cease.

Your voice feels like candlelight in abandoned halls,
a distant comfort when darkness calls.

And every wound inside my chest
grows quiet whenever you let me rest
within the sanctuary of your ghostly embrace,
far from the cruelty of the human race.

You are not heaven.

You are not salvation wrapped in gold.

You are something far more honest,
something ancient, something cold.

A love born beneath ruined skies,
where truth survives and innocence dies.

A connection stitched together
from sleepless nights and hidden scars,
from trembling hands and conversations
that lasted longer than the stars.

Sometimes I fear the night will steal you too,
leave me wandering without the shadow I once knew.

Because people fade like smoke in winter air,
and even forever can disappear.

But until that final silence calls my name,
until my heart forgets its pain,
I will remain beside your soul,
like darkness orbiting something whole.

And if the world collapses into dust,
if every memory is swallowed by rust,
know this love will still remain
inside the echo of my veins.

Not pure.

Not holy.

Not untouched by grief.

But real enough
to survive inside the dark
long after hope itself has fallen asleep.
