Love In These Poetless Times... Poem by RIC BASTASA

Love In These Poetless Times...

my muse, my lady,
i want to be candid,
and direct, and
spontaneous with you,
you, who are you?
whom do you love?
i am stripped of all
metaphors, and similes
depart from me,
i am a stone without moss,
a river without water,
a stalk without a flower.
i want to be candid,
and direct and spontaneous,
i hate you, and i detest you,
i am leaving, and taking
all these anger with me.
my muse my lady no more,
i dust my feet off you,
i am going to another place
where i will be loved,
and cared for,
even without the metaphor.
