Love In Vain Poem by Okoemu Okoemu Okoemu

Love In Vain

I've been to nollywood
Searching for roles for you
When I saw that, Asaba
turned you down
I paid a prize, just to get you featured
in a movie, Teco Benson was working on
Jim Iyke told me
that movie will make you super diva
When you were done
I noticed nollywood won't contain you.

I spent all my savings
Took a trip to Hollywood
I met Arnold Schwarzenegger
He took me to Lion's Gate
Where I met McMahon
Not without a prize.
So brought you to Hollywood.

You had no place to stay
I lodged you at Malibu hotel
Where you mingled with biggest stars
You were living your dream
Which was my happiness
My joy, because you are my love.

Now I heard last night
From Angelina Jolie my friend
That you were in bed
with studio head- Bill Connor
Even Jim Iyke told me
You now bed with Uche Nduka
A producer in Asaba who turned you
down years ago because you were not
A star.

And Bill Connor
Who said you were not good enough
For his movies.

You don't pick my calls any more
Nor return them
Not even my messages
But on first ring
You pick Kunle's call
Kunle who would not have known you
If I hadn't pushed you.

When none knew you, i knew you
You were my celebrity
Without a picture of you anywhere
You were my super diva
I believed in you.

My friends once asked me
After watching you
on a local street show
That between you and Nse Ikpe Etim
Who was a better actor
I am a biggest fan of Nse but
I choose you over her sincerely
They knew i meant it
You knew it too.

Asaba nollywood that duped you
Even Lagos that used you
And Hollywood that refused you
But with me, you came through
I was a nobody
Who entered fire to help you
Now you are a star
You have forgotten the little effort
Of a school teacher.

You know what?
You are still my star
And if nollywood failed you
Just know I'm still here for you
And if Hollywood refused you now
Come back to me...

Impossible?
Well, you know better
Like kings, no star shines forever
No matter what, they fade
When brighter stars take their spot
When that time comes,
Just remember I still love you.

But for now,
I let you be
Tell Nse Ikpe Etim
That I love her
Tell Jim Iyke that
I've seen all his movies
Tell Genevieve, I thought
You would take me to meet her
And tell Pete Edochie
I am his biggest fan.

If I work and retire
I will put my gratuity together
Just to watch you in California
I hope you enter box office by then
I hope you will academy award by then
When you see old Morgan Freeman
Shake his hand for me.
Tell Sylvester Stallone, I know you.
And if you see Idris Elba,
Tell him, I am still your man
even though you ain't no more
My woman.
