Love Is A Silence Whispered In The Dark Poem by Robert Rorabeck

Love Is A Silence Whispered In The Dark

Love is a silence whispered in the dark,
Curled up like sleeping flowers,
Curled up like a newborn’s fingers,
Given to her from your thoughts.
Love is a chalice offered to her lips,
Filled from the unspoken lake,
Filled from the blind lake flooding your heart.
Love is saying nothing
Watching her flying away into
The sky’s blue influence, until she is
Hidden in distance’s forgetfulness.
After you have fed her,
After you have healed her,
Never speaking a word,
Love is watching her leave
And keeping her with you
When you could have forsaken her,
When you could have just driven away.
Love is a silence whispered in the dark,
Soft like baby’s breath,
Or the unspoken grass underfoot,
Love is the unbroken truth
The holy language laying unpronounced in the heart.
Love is a silence whispered in the dark.
