Love Is Love Poem by Ray Hansell

Love Is Love

I never thought too much of her
While we were growing up
She was just another rich girl
Who lived in the country club

But as time went on
And we grew a little older
My feelings toward her
Made me a little bolder

I saw her in a different light
She was a little girl no more
Whenever I would see her
I'd always walk her to her door

So many times I'd ask her out
But she'd politely turn me down
I'd always walk away from her
With my heart dragging on the ground

The next time that I saw her
She asked me to sit down
She said, I want to share something with you
While there's no one else around

As we sat there she held my hand
She started to explain
She talked so soft and slowly
Her words came out so plain

She said the reason why
She never went out with me
Because she was in love
With someone else you see

She said, it was another woman
Who stole my heart away
That she loved her very deeply
And that's how it's going to stay

She said how much she liked me
But I was nothing more then a friend
She said, she valued our friendship
Because on me she could depend

I remember how I looked at her
I said, I'm so very happy for you
In life we get one chance
To do what we want to do

I said, it doesn't matter who you love
Just as long as love is real
If love is strong and it's true
Then it's a love no one else can ever steal
