Love Letter Poem by Belle Violet

Love Letter

After hours of trying
I've decided to quit.
I give up, that's it;
I'm no good
at writing love letters.
They are awkward and bumbling
and I find myself stumbling
to do you justice with all the right words.
They are flowery,
powdery,
full of fluff
and the stuff
to make boys like you giggle
and wriggle with discomfort
at the emotions that come forth.
It all just seems silly to me.
I won't say that I'll love you forever
because forever could end over night;
and that wouldn't last very long.
What I'd say is I'll love you with each breath that passes
through these lungs that I've ravaged
because I've smoked far too much and too long.
I wouldn't say that I won't share my bed
with anyone other than you.
You're a sheet hoarder
and my cats are feet warmers
and they don't snore as loud as you do.
What I'd say is that you're magnetic.
So, despite all the snoring,
I'm stuck;
other men simply just bore me
and besides
you keep me warm and comfy enough.
I won't say that if you left I would die.
Biologically, I don't think that's true.
I think my crazy would kick in
keep my ticker tickin'
and then
there's the fact that eventually I'd find you.
I wouldn't tell you we'll never be apart
because we're apart every day as it is.
We live separate lives
that have somehow collided
and you're cute enough that I stay occupied.
What I'd say is I can't wait
to wake up to your face
and peel my drool covered cheek
from your chest everyday.

Well I can't do much better
this is the best that you'll get;
so much for a sappy love letter.

And you did say it. Well done. I have to admit I would be hard pressed to do better. Read mine - O Dearest Love - Adeline
