Love Letter To My Child Poem by Frederick JB Moore II

Love Letter To My Child

You've belonged to me
from decades before I knew you
and from years before I first held you

I love you my most precious child
because you`re apart of me

I watch you grow everyday
inch by inch and foot by foot
and I know my precious child
that the world belongs to your gifted hands

and as I carry you I mourn the day
I have to put you down
so you can run on your own

I`ll never be ready
this I promise to you
because I love you more than life

you’re the best of me
combined with the best of my heart

there`s no way not to love you

scores before you were born
hours before I knew you
and months before I belonged to you

I’ve known who you`d be
and I`d prayed for your future
and I’ve bragged at how

no one has ever loved their child
the way I’ve loved you
