Love Letters
Beneath the moon, I write your name,
In faded ink, in candlelight;
Each trembling word becomes a flame,
A little star against the night.
I write of dreams I cannot speak,
Of stolen glances, soft and sweet;
Of all the things my heart would seek,
If only yours and mine could meet.
These pages hold my quiet heart,
The words my lips were scared to say;
Though distance keeps our lives apart,
My love still finds its gentle way.
And when these letters turn to gold,
With time-worn edges, soft and thin,
Their whispered secrets will be told:
I loved you then. I love you still.
So keep each letter close to you,
As proof of all my heart once knew;
For years may pass and skies may change,
But love, once written, stays the same.
