Love's Trajectory Poem by Felix Bongjoh

Love's Trajectory

Love's trajectory

Ship wrecked,
Soul soaked
In a bloody bowl:
Come to the beach where hearts thrive
On dense rocks of ore.

Wreck spared,
Love berthed
Beyond a wild wave:
Fly back to our shore of hope
Perched on rocks' prime core.

High tide,
Love's hub
Along a cliff's edge:
O freeze desire's waves rolling
Towards a deep hole.

Mere tuff,
Just bluff
From a steep, raised height,
Bold igneous not firm enough
To bear love's deep wounds.

Gabbro,
Love's might
Rested on pumice,
Soon disintegrates into
Dust at love's dim gate.

Mud brick
Of love
Breaks loose when it drops
On bare earth, where it started
From bare arms of clay.

Take root
O love
On a fertile will,
Such deep roots and a stout stump
No storm can uproot.

Let's board
Love's ship
With an iron will,
Sail on gabbro soles, unwrecked,
And bud in wild storms.
