Love Sonnet 145: ' When Gloom Abides With Me Tenaciously'

When gloom abides with me tenaciously,
To sap my mirth off lame delights you left,
I hang on threads, and swing precariously,
So loveless now, even of hope, bereft:
How could you have chastised with so much stripes,
And walk me gallows, to hang by the noose?
There seems no antidote, my poor heart gripes,
To venom of the sting, you made me choose:
I'll wait, to count down days of black and gray,
Though hours are longer, till the day you're back,
And time might freeze, to further the delay,
But come, put back my awry world on track:
.......For only when you do, will sorrows fly,
.......And once again, will rainbows fill my eye.
