I love you not for the cares and caresses
I love you not for the wine and the dine
I love you not for the fresh blossoms
I love you not for the spring’s cherries

But I love you
I won’t hate you for the lost love
I won’t hate you for the insults
I won’t hate you for the remembrance of things past
I won’t hate you because you left me there
I won’t hate you because you disdained me.

But I will love you
I love you for the unquiet days
I love you for the unquiet days
I love you for the sleepless nights
I love you for the fuss and bickering
I love you for the scrap and the slap

But I won’t hate you
I love you because or not because of these things
I love you because you are mine and you will be mine
forever and forever and forever more
