Lovely Burns Poem by Catie Pipkin

Lovely Burns

Did you know your eyes burn holes

When you need me with your eyes and expect I don't know

What am I to think when your stare leaves scars

When you strip me bare and leave me wondering who you are

I know you but I don't know you

Your eyes reveal all I need to know

We thrive on our secrets shared when our eyes meet

It gives you away: I let it take me too

Without the light in your eyes I don't know what i'd do.

Your glance is my sanctuary

It holds me and ensures the breath I breathe

The holes that you burn with those hungry eyes

Exploit your love and light the fire inside
