Lover’s Leap Poem by Alfred Ramos

A fractured phrase bled from her mouth
Tiny red bubbles oozed, burst in sadness
Her eyes a blank stare
A moment earlier she chose to fly
She was an angel with a broken wing
Her life flashed in a capsule of quick time
This lover’s leap her answer
To medicated questions
Unanswered and misunderstood
Life was dragging her down
Clogging her brain with misguided illusions
I tried to help
I tried to extract the demons
That resided in her black heart
But I was too late
From this fall she would not get up
Her ETA ahead of schedule
An icy wind tangled her frazzled hair
Twisting into knots an enigma of her life
An empty soul blinded by mistrust
The hard ground, like her hard life did not give
This lover’s leap would end
In a loud thud, the final exclamation
