Lovers Poem by Petra Novakova

Last night I heard a bard weave tales of lands lost to time
And my heart ached with longing for such a glorious past.

He sang of the Queen of Hearts who held power over life:
Beautiful beyond words, pure in spirit, and always wise
She welcomed both son´s of Adam and daughter´s of Eve
To her realm souls came from far away, never to leave.

He sang of the King of Shadows who conquered the world:
Powerful and fair, he ruled the lands of the great beyond
Where the brave were revered and showered in pure gold
And the weak grew strong and through trials became bold.

He sang of their courtship from which eternal love was born.
The King offered his body, mind and soul for nothing in return
But a single kiss from the Queen, it made him freeze and burn
As did her laughter, like pearls falling that made his head turn.

He sang of their dance, how they moved through day and night.
From the begining of time till the last rays of distant starlight,
The Queen lay bare the King, her eyes forever burning bright
Only her chosen worthy of her affection, a beast in his own right.

He sang of their joy, King of the North and Queen of the South.
And when He took a mouthful of life from her fountain of youth
To do to her as She did unto him quenching the land´s drougth
And from within life surged forward, both graceful and uncouth.

Last night I heard a bard weave tales of lands lost to time
And my heart soared through the clouds above, free at last.

Love your narrative skill, the flow of words as one recites the poem.... very well written.
