Lovers Of Contrast Poem by mike ogah

Lovers Of Contrast

I dreamt I saw an angel fall from the sun
Scorched wings inflamed, her time in heaven was done

Bedazzled eyes gone dim, the earth sullied her
Lucifer gives her a trade and she calls him master

A dim past a mingling future, her nebulous hopes lie
The heat of the day, the chill of the night and there was i

Truth and untruth struggling in endless combat
Swords of mystery clapping with love in their heart

In her soul I sensed, a sky- censored seed
My empathy echoed a cry that I must breed

But I must steel my soul against stick and stone
And toughen my heart that to trip is prone

But drunk from the vertigo of beauty mesh
I let her golden dust lure me with its rosy fresh

Thunder revived me with its drums and flute
The songs of magic birds throttled me to my foot

All of a sudden pent passion peered through the bower
As the ripest moment became the saddest encounter

We have come to the cross roads and I must either leave or come with you
I lingered over the choice on what I should do

But in the darkness of my doubt, you lifted the lamp of love
And I saw in your face the road that I should take-Above
