Lovers Of Our Time Poem by O. A.

Lovers Of Our Time

Lovers of Our Time

Inspired by the lives of Rimbaud and Verlaine

Tutti

If I could drown the Sun forever
In the open mouth of the sea
Then pry back the hands of nature
And let the night roam free
Youth would have their playground
Lovers would have their cover
And there would be a time
For you and me

If the joy of being alive
Was not measured in the amount of spilt tears
But in the amount of bedridden fears
Unleashed through public sympathy
Words would subvert The Action
One shoulder wouldn't support humanity
And there would be a time
For you and me

If the world wasn't so heterosexual
In the eyes of emancipation
And they realized that Love transcends it all
With the will and grace of footsteps over broken glass
Then critics would FEEL their faith
My wife would understand, as would your wife
And there would be a time
For you and me

O.A.
