Love's Bitter Brew Poem by Lilith Van'Nightinveil

Love's Bitter Brew

Love, oh sweet venom coursing through my veins,
A poison disguised in sweet refrains.
It enters softly, like a gentle breeze,
But soon it spreads, with effortless ease.

At first, it feels like a blissful high,
But soon enough, it starts to pry.
It twists and turns, it takes its toll,
Leaving behind an empty soul.

Love, they say, is pure and true,
But what they don't say is it consumes you.
It seeps into every crevice, every crack,
Leaving no room for turning back.

Like a drug, it hooks you deep,
A craving you just can't keep.
It clouds your mind, it clouds your sight,
And suddenly, you're lost in the night.

But oh, how sweet the poison tastes,
As it wraps you in its tight embrace.
You welcome it with open arms,
Unaware of the impending harms.

Love, they say, conquers all,
But sometimes, it's just a free fall.
A leap into the abyss below,
Where love's poison continues to flow.

So beware, dear friends, of love's sweet sting,
For it's not always what it seems.
It may start as a sweet embrace,
But it ends in a bitter, bitter taste.

Love, oh sweet poison of mine,
How I wish I could draw the line.
But alas, I'm caught in your snare,
Forever entangled in your despair.

So here I stand, with love's poison in my veins,
A prisoner to its endless chains.
But even as I slowly fade away,
I'll cherish the memory of love's sweet decay.
