Maine Poem by Leonard Champlin

Maine

Rating: 2.5

The oceans roar approval at the bright red fireball sunset
cast out across the waters in August at high tide.

Fishermans boats on the horizon, silhouettes on the skyline
lining up to share the docks to sell their fresh catch daily.

Seagulls flying in circles, screeching their pecking order
for snacks and small crabs washing up onto the shore.

Footprints at low tide, walking for sandy miles
to far away places unknown, and no path to find them home.

Light house lights at dusk and dawn, give safe passage from rugged shores
sending trawlers home safely across rugged, hostile seas.

Full moon and sparkling skies, flashes of shooting stars bright
for dreamers thoughts in silence, for dreamers thoughts in silence.

What is it that love endears and with no fear or consequence
natures beauty, fresh and clean, within my spirits soul and keep.
