Make Me Stay - 11/94

Rating: 5.0

I was thinking maybe I'd go now,
I'd done almost everything and it was boring somehow.

I've had the black velvet coat, the boots that lace,
the black onyx ring, I've been singing on stage,
I've written the love songs, traveled far as you can go,
I just kept thinking that's all I'll ever know,
then
I turned my head and I saw you, and it made me stay.

I was thinking maybe I'd go now,
I'd done almost everything and it was boring somehow.

I asked God to take me, I was all out of tears,
couldn't bear the thought of any more years,
I've read all the books, and I've seen all the ruins,
I've lain in the grass and talked to the Moon,
then
I turned my head and I saw you, and it made me stay.

I was thinking maybe I'd go now,
I'd done almost everything and it was boring somehow.

I stared out the window to ten floors below,
I laid out the pills in row after row,
I'd tried all the foods and sipped all the drinks,
I've walked on the ocean at its very brink,
then
I turned my head because I heard your voice,
your music made me want to stay.
